Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza has got engaged to a Hyderabad-based businessman but her family hSania's engagementas ruled out an immediate wedding or early retirement for the star.

The 22-year-old, who is the most successful woman tennis player of the country, will continue playing the game and her father Imran Mirza said it will take a while before the two families decide on when the wedding would take place.

“This is to confirm that Sania Mirza is engaged to Mr. Muhammad Sohrab Mirza, whose family hails from the city of Hyderabad. Although not related, the two families have had friendly ties for several decades. However, the wedding is not expected to take place for a while,” Imran Mirza said.

“I would like to state that the news appearing in certain sections of the media about the two maternal grandmothers having fixed the liaison is baseless. It has also been wrongly projected that Sania is contemplating early retirement from tennis. These reports are absolutely untrue,” he said.

Nokia launches 6208 Classic in India Photo Gallery

Nokia India has announced the launch of its first series 40 touch-input device Nokia 6208 Classic.
The Nokia 6208 Classic, priced at Rs. 13,259, features a pen input along with an alphanumeric keypad and handwriting recognition features. It also features a 2.4-inch QVGA display, 3.2 mega-pixel camera with dual LED flash, Stereo MP3 player and FM radio, 64 MB internal user memory (13 MB free) and a 5-way navi-key.

Car bomb blast in Lahore,40 killed,150 injured‎ - Pictures,Video

A powerful bomb went off outside an emergency police service office on Lahore's Mall road on Wednesday, killing 30 people and wounding 150 others. Intermittent firing was also heard ahead of the blast and following it.

Officials say there is a chance the device had been planted inside a car parked between Rescue 15 building and offices of intelligence agencies.

There are many versions of what really happened on Wednesday morning.

One eyewitness says two-three men -- possibly suicide bombers entered "Building 1-5". They came in an ambulance. Shortly after a blast was heard. Some men came out firing and managed to escape.

Others say, a red van came towards the police building. It tried to go through the barricade.

The blast took place right outside "Building 1-5". The building was completely razed and over 40 vehicles destroyed and road reduced to rubble as a result of the blast.

The police commandoes have taken position in nearby buildings. The army has been called in.

Two suspects have been arrested, reports say. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The rescue operations are on. Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, on his part, has ordered probe into the blast.

Interior ministry chief Rehman Malik says the blast could be result of military operation against the Taliban in Swat valley.

PTI adds: The attack was apparently aimed at the Punjab province headquarters of the ISI, Pakistan's intelligence agency. An explosives-laden vehicle apparently targetting the ISI headquarters went off in crowded Civil Lines area. The vehicle could not reach the ISI building and blew off at a barrier close to the complex.

Reports said some suspects picked up in connection with the March 3 terror attack on the visiting Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore, were inside the ISI office when the blast took place.

The ISI building sustained some damage due to the impact of the explosion that occured before noon, witnesses said. The blast comes less than two months after the attack on the Police academy at Manawan, close to Lahore on March 30 this year, when armed gunmen laid a siege resulting in the killing of 10 people including eight policemen.

Lahore was also the scene of an attack on the visiting Sri Lankan cricket team on March 3, in which eight people, including six police officials were killed and six cricketers were injured.

The bus, on its way to Lahore from Delhi, was stopped at a police station in Ludhiana.

The 62nd Cannes 2009: White Ribbon wins Palme d'Or at The 62nd Cannes Film Festival

The White Ribbon, a black and white parable about the rise of fascism in pre-war Germany from director Michael Haneke, has won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

The 62nd Cannes Film Festival came to an end with Austrian director Michael Haneke winning the festival's Palme D'Or for his black-and-white film about a children's choir in a northern German village, set before the First World War.

Haneke's "The White Ribbon" was awarded the coveted Golden Palm at the closing ceremony late Sunday, and the jury praised the 67-year-old for his understated, subtle examination of the roots of Nazi terror."

Haneke addressed his wife as he accepted his award, noting that happiness is rare. "This is one moment in my life in which I'm very happy, and so are you, I believe."

It was a big night for Austria, whose triumphs included Christoph Waltz as best actor for Tarantino's World War II epic, "Inglourious Basterds," a film that also featured Massachusetts-bred actors Eli Roth and B.J. Novak.

The second-place grand prize went to French director Jacques Audiard's prison drama, "A Prophet."French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg won the best actress honor for von Trier's "Antichrist.

Armed Men Attack Sikh Temple In Vienna Pictures

At least 11 people have been wounded after armed men attacked a preacher and worshippers at a Sikh temple in Vienna.
The Austrian national news agency APA quoted police spokesman Michael Takacs as saying all suspects had been arrested after the incident in the Austrian capital.

Local authorities and witnesses initially said the attackers were from two feuding families.

But they later said it involved members of several rival Sikh temples in Vienna who have been at odds for several years.

Police said the violence began when six people burst into the temple in Vienna's Rudolfsheim district during a religious service.

They attacked the preacher and other worshippers, one of them firing a gun and others wielding knives.

At least 11 people suffered gunshot and stab wounds in the violence before the attackers were subdued, police said.

The French news agency AFP has reported as many as 30 people were injured in the attack - nine of them seriously.

Mohanlal Celebrated His 49th Bbirthday

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal celebrated his 49th birthday on Tuesday in a hotel room in Thiruvananthapuram. There was not much fanfare this time and hardly any celebrations as his father-in-law has passed away recently.
